Sustainability Strategy and Governance

At Crestwood, sustainability means operating in an ethically, environmentally, and socially responsible manner; focusing on safety; respecting and supporting our communities; protecting the environment; and developing our employees. As we embark on our sustainability journey – beginning with this inaugural sustainability report – we are focusing on integrating sustainability across our business to propel our success and differentiate us from our competitors.

Sustainability Strategy

In 2018, as part of our materiality assessment we identified five key sustainability focus areas that represent not only risks to be managed, but also significant opportunities. These are:

  • Supply chain management;
  • Environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting;
  • Environmental stewardship;
  • Diversity and inclusion; and
  • Social investment.

These focus areas are aligned with the delivery of our business goals while also being responsive to stakeholders. The company is focused on continuous improvement in these areas.

Sustainability Governance

To accelerate the integration of sustainability into our business strategy, we formed our Sustainability Board Committee in 2018. The Committee oversees the development of Crestwood’s sustainability strategy, provides direction and guidance on key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics that impact the Company, and guides Crestwood’s sustainability disclosure and engagement. The Company’s Chief Executive Officer works with the Chair of the Sustainability Committee to approve the direction for sustainability within the business.

Our Director of Sustainability develops enterprise-wide sustainability programs to address ESG opportunities and risks, and acts as the liaison between business units on all ESG topics. The Sustainability Steering Committee – comprised of leaders from our business segments and key functions – supports the Director of Sustainability in developing and implementing our sustainability strategy and programs. Our Sustainability Working Groups provide the data and support needed to measure and report on our progress. All of these contributors are instrumental in embedding a culture of sustainability throughout our business that will enable us to meet our objectives.
