Landowner Relations

We recognize that respectable relations and support from our landowners is potentially one of the most critical components to the success of our business. Crestwood’s land department makes every effort to provide consistent communication and engagement with landowners throughout the lifecycle of our operations. We work with federal, state, tribal and private landowners from the pre-planning stage through construction, operations and reclamation. Crestwood is committed to building long-lasting relationships by providing fair financial compensation, protecting and restoring impacted lands and operating respectfully on each landowner’s property.

Our Approach

In 2021, Crestwood’s land department introduced a third-party software allowing for efficient tracking and reporting of landowner contractual commitments and obligations. Over 5,000 landowner right-of-way agreements were entered into the system in 2021, providing faster response times, accuracy of key contractual scheduled payments and data capture concerning site visits, repairs and maintenance activities on specific tracts.

Achieving zero complaints in 2021, resulted in no unexpected costs or project delays

Our land team and local operations leaders are trained in stakeholder engagement and are the first to respond when handling concerns or formal grievances with landowners. We credit our team’s professionalism and long-term relationship development to achieving zero complaints in 2021, resulting in no unexpected costs or project delays.

External Voice

As a landowner, it’s been a pleasure working with Crestwood. The company has been a breath of fresh air and has worked with us in partnership. If an issue or problem occurred, local employees immediately contacted me and negotiated a workable solution. Crestwood is the type of company that will follow the recommendations of our local range conservationist in the NRCS office planting the best seed mixes on the reclaimed pipelines for both wildlife and livestock. I’ve worked with several different companies, and Crestwood is the most supportive in our community. We all have a responsibility to make our communities better places to live, and Crestwood exemplifies that philosophy.

Local Community Support

For Crestwood, building and maintaining strong community relationships is a priority. Engagement with local communities and their leaders throughout all stages of the lifecycle is critical to sustaining our social license to operate. We implement a variety of engagement methods allowing affected community members and organizations, including vulnerable and under-represented groups, to participate, ask questions and be heard. Although the ongoing pandemic limited the number of in-person engagements and events, we maintained our involvement and support of local communities and organizations through financial support, virtual meetings and volunteer support, when safe to do so.

Key Local Organizations that Crestwood Supported in 2021

To Crestwood, operating responsibly requires meaningful engagement and impactful contributions in our local communities. In 2021, we donated approximately $550,000 to local community impact programs and organizations. Key partnerships include, but are not limited to:
